Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the first step I need to take to get started on my documentary?

A: Call our offices and give us the opportunity to create a customized estimate to match your needs.  You’ll understand more fully how our creation process will work for you. If you haven’t reviewed the creation process and our unique three phase procedure, please take the time to review the three short video presentations on the processes we use to create your documentary.  Many of your initial questions regarding what goes on into the creation of your documentary will be answered there.

Q: How long does it take to produce my documentary?

A: Depending upon how much preparation and research is required, as well as image scanning/digitization that needs to be done beforehand, the average time for a 30 minute documentary is six weeks.

Q: What preparations are needed on my part?

A: We will help you with the preparation phase of your project.  We will be looking for things like birth dates, birth places and other basic information concerning the people and places you would like to focus on.  We would also like to see photographs and any home movies you might have to enhance the personalization of your documentary.  To help you organize your thoughts, we will give you an easy questionnaire to ensure your documentary covers all the important aspects of your life.  And any family histories, journals, stories, etc., will add more depth to the final product.

Q: What do you do with my information?

A: The information and media gathered during the production of your documentary are treated with strict confidentiality.  The information is not for us, but for YOUR FAMILY, so keep that in mind as you prepare your answers to the questionaire. You do not EVER need to worry about the information you provide us going anywhere but into the production of your documentary.

Q: What can I do to help speed up the production?

A: The things that take up the bulk of the time in

preparing or your documentary are scanning/ organizing images and digitizing film/video clips that will be used in the production.   Any amount of digitally preparing your images and footage will not only speed up the process, but will lower your costs as well.
